Prophets speak the Word of God fearlessly. They speak with authority. They must speak God’s Word as it is given to them.
Jesus was the preeminent Prophet for He spoke from personal knowledge of the Father. Jesus proclaimed His message when it was inconvenient. He told the Truth not when it seemed appropriate or acceptable. Jesus’ teaching shook people up. Some listeners became His followers, others disregarded it and still others opposed Him violently.
Today there are some courageous people who challenge us. They speak for the poor, for the weak, for the rights of the elderly, for the orphans, for the unborn… Parents are prophets for their children. A teacher or a coach can be a voice of God for kids.
Let us, therefore, be prophets and speak the Word of God to those we meet. Let us build the Kingdom of God in this world.
